Garrett, a native of Auckland who found his artistic calling amidst the vibrant streets of Melbourne, has recently emerged as a fresh talent at Toi Ora. Raised in Australia, Garrett’s journey into the world of art began as a search for direction, much like many young men navigating their way through life.
It was the graffiti culture of Melbourne that initially captivated Garrett, serving as a gateway to explore various artistic mediums. However, his influences extend far beyond the urban landscape. Garrett draws inspiration from music, fellow artists, and the profound connections he shares with those closest to him.
“I love using my hands,” Garrett enthuses, revealing a passion for tactile creation. Whether it’s tinkering with gadgets, disassembling and reassembling objects, or indulging in his affinity for woodwork, Garrett’s artistic expression knows no bounds.
In a hypothetical scenario where fortune smiles upon him, Garrett’s priorities reflect his deep-rooted values. “If I won the lotto,” he shares, “I would first ensure my Mama is taken care of, followed by supporting friends and family.” His generosity doesn’t stop there; Garrett would also put a portion towards Toi Ora, recognising the invaluable role it plays in nurturing artistic talent.
A message from Garret:
I absolutely love this place, the people, and want to say thank you to Toi Ora for welcoming me in and allowing me to brainwash you fellas with my art
